"Extremely good"

About: Royal Hampshire County Hospital

What I liked

Your form does not allow me to select A&E as the department visited, so I have selected General Medicine as my father ended up in Bartlett Ward.

I brought my father to A&E as requested by his doctor, who provided detailed history beforehand. A&E Reception were efficient and prompt and we were taken straight into an assessment ward where we received very quick attention, and both nurses and the duty doctor provided extremely positive bedside communication. Every possible option was considered and my father received prompt XRays and a Scan and details were considered and discussed very helpfully.

My father was then taken to Bartlett Ward and very efficiently looked after by the duty doctor who was very positive and with great bedside manner and two nurses who were also positive and helpful.

Timing: My father arrived at A&E around 2.30pm on New Year's Eve.

What could be improved

Communication between A&E and Bartlett regarding the fact that my father had finished in A&E - Bartlett had to wait some time before they could continue with treatment as he had not been signed off by A&E, apparently because they work on two different systems.

Anything else?

Please pass my thanks to both the A&E staff and the Bartlett Ward staff on duty at the time.AttentiveBedside mannerCommunicationConsiderateProfessionalismReceptionWardDoctorsNursing staffWaiting timesSigns
