" We have met some lovely consultants, but none of them have had an answer"

About: University Hospital Of Wales / ENT

(as a relative),

my daughter has had a re-occurring ear infection since she was 9 months old. We paid to see a private consultant in BUPA after being told the emergency waiting list was 9 months and she had two febral convultions.

We have been to ent at least 6 times and seen a different consultant every time.

Some have suggested gromets but the last one said a gromet will not help and to come back (again) in two weeks.

One time we waited two hours with a toddler with an ear infection (ouch) only to be told they could not do a hearing test or examination. On our first visit the hearing test was broken!!!

We have met some lovely consultants, but none of them have had an answer or suggestion of what is wrong - our designated consultant has seen our daughter once, I don't feel they have any rapport with children and even made her cry when looking in her ears.

It is very frustrating as a parent to see your child in such discomfort with no answers, I would prefer them to just say there is no answer and accept the ear infections.
