"A surgery of two halves"

Let’s start with the positive. The reception staff are wonderful and do a great job welcoming you to the practice and dealing with a busy and challenging environment. The locum and junior doctors on rotation have been superb and in a short time identified appropriate care and established trust and raport. The nursing staff have also provided a very positive experience. Sadly the same cannot be said of the other doctors here. I have now seen each of them at least once and sadly I have felt judged, patronised, rushed, to blame for the situation, unsupported, not confident in returning for further treatment and generally in a position where I would prefer to seek further treatment privately or through referral via other medical professionals. I was once stopped part way through listing my symptoms relating to mental health. I appreciate the appointments are 10 minuets, but if the next thing I was going to confide was suicidal thoughts don’t you think it would be important to hear!? I’ve also been interrogated about health care I received privately and basically told how the wrong approach was taken. Isn’t this unprofessional and, incidentally the right diagnosis was made, caught at an early stage and treatment initiated preventing further episodes. There seems to be an arrogance and from what I understand outdated approach to treatment. According to a psychiatrist I have been prescribed the wrong medication, given incorrect instructions on how to dose, subsequently removed without tapering - all with quite catastrophic consequences. This does not fill me with confidence and I am considering a change of practice. Finally, each and every time I visit I am encouraged to see a regular GP. In a perfect system that would be great, but given how difficult it is to get a standard appointment and how disappointed I have been with the standard to care offered by each doctor this just isn’t realistic.
