"The staff were brilliant at reassuring me"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Short Stay Surgery

(as a service user),

After a routine flexi sigmoidoscopy a flat polyp was discovered 

Under the care of Doctor Parnaby and his surgical staff it was removed .

I was feeling a bit anxious before the procedure , the staff were brilliant at reassuring me considering it looked like a tool box was going to be inserted in my delicate area.

Also zero pain afterwards which was a relief .

I would also like to thank the nursing staff on Ward 302 they were brilliant 

Apologies as I cannot remember the nurses names  I met during my visit . 

Overall the experience was pretty scary and stressful but I cannot in reality find enough words to say how professional and caring the staff were and how hard they worked to ease my concerns in general.

Many thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback on your experience in ward 302 and during your procedure. We are always keen to hear from patients and relatives about their experiences when in our care in order that we can learn and share with the teams to improve our service.

I will be delighted to share with SCN Gourlay in ward 302 that you found the nursing staff to be brilliant. She will be able to feedback to the team who will be very happy to hear of your comments. I shall also inform Mr Parnaby how reassured you were by him and his surgical team.

It is heartening to hear that all the staff provided reassurance and caring in a professional manner which helped you when undergoing a procedure that is scary and stressful. We shall endeavour to continue to provide care in this professional manner for all our patients.
