I had a serious operation and woke up afterwards with a blood clot on my lungs I couldn't breathe I was put on oxygen for 9 days this left me with panic attacks fear depression and a feeling every breath could be my last I was put on a c. b. t course thinking it would be a waste of time and they would just tell me to put it at the back of my mind I was very sceptical.
I then met a young lady who was to be my therapist Toni she made every effort to make me comfortable even asking me if I would like an older person she did not make me feel small as someone who was over 70 and used to being able to handle my own affairs she was so helpful even running up the stairs with me though I walked to show nothing would happen if I got out of breath it proved the point.
With homework exercises talking over the whole picture and understanding of the problem she was so sincere I felt she cared she was friendly but not familiar and proved to me it was not unusual to feel like this after a bad scare or any trauma in your life in all I am now much better and look to the future with some hope but it is I feel for anyone who does this course it is as important for them to put as much effort into it as the therapist to gain a good outcome don't feel ashamed of how you feel everyone needs help at sometime in their lives and I would recommend this course to anyone
