I was recently referred to the Surgical assessment unit by my GP. My appointment was dealt with efficiently and I was offered an appointment to see the General Surgeon, their clinic was ran efficiently and professionally and I was made to feel at ease and confident. I was offered a date for surgery a few weeks later. During my initial referral, to having my day surgery, I had involvement with Surgical Appointments Clerks, Nursing and HCA staff in the SEAL unit including the theatre team.
From my early morning check in at the SEAL unit, I was treated with care, dignity and respect by all I came into contact with. Everything was clearly and carefully explained to me and I was given the opportunity to ask any questions which were answered to my satisfaction. The 2 nurses assisting in the Anaethetics room including the Anaethetist themselves made sure I was comfortable, sharing a sense of humour which was much appreciated. Nurse in the recovery room was fantastic, again making me feel comfortable. I was them transferred to the day ward where the consistency of professional care continued. I really wish I could name those involved, I can but I am following your request not to enter names, All of them were a credit to APH and the NHS.
Thank you to all concerned, but also to those behind the scenes who are often forgotten about. My date of admission was 10th November for my surgery.
"Efficient but most of all professional and caring."
