I have been visitingRheumatology for going on two years. When I first visited I was in a wheelchair completely crippled unable to do anything for myself. I could not get in and out of bed on my own, even trying to pull the sheets off my bed took me half an hour. I had been like this for over 12 months. I was in that much pain I was ready for giving up. I had lost four stone in weight.
On my first visit I was injected with steroids which made a vast difference. The consultant made arrangements for me to have a scan within a couple of days, I had the scan and the consultant rang me themselves at home and arranged for me to come back to the hospital two days later. From there I was put on a cocktail of drugs and have gone from strength to strength. I have gradually got my life back. Still having physio and improving all the time.
Cannot thank the consultant, doctors and nurses enough. I hope the Hallamshire appreciate what fantastic staff it has and at all cost keep these staff no matter what, as you would not manage to replace such wonderful people.
"Brilliant second to none"
