I can't really give an account of my experience because my son is still waiting to been seen. He was referred urgently due to having impacted earwax that has left him completely deaf for over two months. He is 10 years olds and due to have his SATS at the end of this year. His teachers have had to remove him from class during lessons to help him hear what's going on in his lessons. He is a danger on the road on his bike so I can longer allow him to cycle to school with his friends either. I spent day in and day out repeating myself and his speech prounouciations as he can't here words to mimic them. The GP referred him as urgen but after waiting two weeks I contacted the hospital who informed me they had downgraded his referral without contacting my GP and I'd have to go back to my GP for an expedite letter. I was so exhausted by the lack of service from the NHS that I paid privately for him to have micro-suction but it was unsuccessful as they said it was far too impacted despite me using olive oil for over two months. I am furious at this lack of communication between ENT and my GP and causing my son to remain in this state. He is losing confidence and now struggling to keep at school. I will be making formal complaints to both the GP surgery and the hospital.
"Waiting times appalling for urgent and children"
