I was admitted for elective surgery on Hollybank Ward on 10 Novemeber 2017. I was dreading it as I suffer from severe anxiety, however, I could have written a little diary from the minute I got there to when I was discharged. I arrived at 7.30 am, and was greeted by the Nurse who was lovely, and called me into a little room right away where they booked me in, and by 8am they told me the consultant would be in to see me soon. Within 5 minutes the consultant came to see me to explain the procedure and then the anaesthetist came in ,and by now I had zero anxiety! I was then taken to a waiting room, and within 5 minutes I was given my gown to put on and taken to another waiting room where there were 4 lovely ladies also waiting for a procedure. Again, still no anxiety as it was lovely chatting, and even the cleaner who was in and out stopped to chat whilst they were cleaning , who was lovely. I was called to go to theatre and yet while I was being prepped for general anaesthetic, I was too busy chatting to the lovely staff I can't remember anything else until I woke up in recovery!
I have to say a huge thanks to all these amazing staff, the Nurses, the cleaner, the Health Care Assistants, the consultant, the Anaesthetist, the theatre staff, for there wonderful hard work and most of all for making me feel at ease, and I am so grateful that I had no anxiety at all that day. A huge thank you to you all.
