"Severe Lack of communication between Midwives."

My wife started to have cramps and we then went to hospital wherein the Midwife checked her and said she is in labour and got her admitted. My wife was severe backpain along with cramps but the midwifes were offering pain killers which were of no help to her. Finally the midwife checked her again then said she was dilated and ready to push the baby - then after the experience was wonderful. Our midwives was so cooperative and helpful and motivating her all the time and then our sweet lil daughter was out. post that they helped my wife clean herself, dressed our baby and moved my wife to Edith ward. there the issue started.

Utter lack of communication between shifts

once moved to edith ward, the midwive said my wife had anit body M so they need to check for baby's blood for the same, the nurse/doctor forgot to take blood sample that day so we were not discharged.

Day 2 - out of sudden the doctor comes and says baby has jaundice and we have measure her levels, nurse comes and measures and says this machine is not trustworthy we need blood samples so they took blood. in evening the midwife said results are okay so you would be discharged tomorrow.

Day 3 - new midwife comes checks the baby and says baby has jaundice, I need doctor to see her and take blood (not sure what happened on Day 2) the whole day the doctor did not come and when they did, they told the mother in the adjacent bed that their baby has jaundice and explained everything to her which infact was for my wife (they mixed up the bed number) so that say as well wife was not discharged

Day 4 - its sunday... Midwife says there is only emergency doctor so not sure if doctor can check today..

My biggest concern is when on day 3 the midwife did not discharge us on grounds that doctor needs to asses jaundice and then you inform the same to the mother about this and no doctor comes to check the baby and no one inform the mother as well whats happening which makes the mother more nervous. no one is treating baby for jaundice or is treatment is not required let us know at we would not worry about it.

All is good at Northwick park hospital except that there is a sever gap in the communication that they have between Midwives/Nurses/Doctors.
