"Admissions"

About: Princess Royal University Hospital / Urology

Admissions into the hospital are black & white, either through A&E or a planned admission by your consultant. This doesn’t work very well, just clogs up the costly A&E service. An example would be when you see your consultant at the Beckenham Beacon and you need to be admitted, yet the consultant has to sent you to the PRU’s A&E and you have to sit there for hours on end with the rest of unfortunate people waiting to be assessed/treated. When in fact you have already been done, yet you still have to go through the same procedures with the A&E doctors, who don’t know your history, and eventually get the bed allocation which was already diagnosed 6 hours earlier by your consultant. Complete waste of resources.

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments.

It does sound like you have had a frustrating experience for which I am sorry.

I will be passing your comments to our Urulogy and ED teams who are looking to improve just these kinds of issues.

We've a lot of work going on to reduce the pressures on A&E and your story is an example of where we need to look at how we can best deliver an efficient and safe service.

Thank you again.
