"Rude"

About: Hinchingbrooke Hospital

I am not happy with how I was treated when taking my son to the a&e department. The First member of staff that saw me in the assessment room was very rude. They said to me ‘you look really young, do you mind me asking how old you are?’ To which my reply was ‘20.’ The member of staff then proceeded to say to me ‘you look about 12 but then you must get that all the time.’

I had taken my son up there because he had taken a chunk out of his thumb. The member of staff told it was just a layer of skin come off and made me feel as though it was pointless of me to bring him up there. However the second member of staff that saw him agreed with me that yes it was a chunk out of his thumb and the only reason he wouldn’t be having stitches is because there wasn’t skin there to stitch.

I am so sorry to hear about your experience and I am obviously concerned about the comments you have posted. We want to ensure all of our patients receive good quality care and I am disappointed that this is not what has happened in your case.

If you would like to discuss this in more detail please do contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 01733 673405. Once again my apologies that not all of your encounters have been positive.

Regards

Lesley Crosby
