"Gallbladder surgery"

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital

As mother taken in 999 call to amu to investigate issues which revealed gallstone.

Taken to another ward (respiratory) only to be told 5 days later she had chest infection but also need gallbladder removal (recently already on waiting list for) but requiring bed on surgical ward but a bed shortage.

Now no chest infection present and all obs good however, been told to go home with buscapan and painkillers and come back at later date. By this time no doubt she will be readmitted as ill with her copd condition and again although a severe gallstone problems will again be sent home.

Totally disgusted with how someone who is as well with their copd can be yet told will not operate on gallbladder as to come back as an elected surgery.

NHS wasting more money than enough.

Shameful

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your mother's experience of our hospital. I am sincerely sorry to read of your disappointment. If you have not already done so, I would be very grateful if you could contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) who will be very happy to provide support and look into the issue around your mother's surgery. You can contact PALS on 01782 676450 or via email at patientadvice.uhnm@nhs.net.

With kindest regards
