We received an outstanding standard of care for my ten month old daughter on Ward 4 on Thursday, Friday and today. She was referred from Urgent Care with periorbital cellulitis on Thursday morning. At all times she was cared for with compassion, professionalism and expertise. Every member of staff was amazing and inspired such confidence. Their care also extended to me, a worried and exhausted mother, and to my six year old son who was with us because I had no one else to look after him. I can't believe how well we were cared for: in our three visits we were looked after three registrars, three consultants (paediatrician, ENT and Eye) and three senior sisters. Everyone was brilliant.
The physical environment was also very welcoming and comfortable, not only on Ward 4 but throughout the hospital. As we walked through the hospital it struck me how well maintained, clean and calm MKUH is. The artwork in the corridors makes the space feel more human, more interesting, more cared for and more premium. It feels more like a private hospital. The new Costa and Subway at the main entrance are great. It's still a bit confusing navigating the building (particularly finding the way to get from floor 2 to floor 1) but anyone who spotted us looking lost in the corridor was very helpful and friendly. The hospital has changed immeasurably since I last had reason to visit and is a now very pleasant place.
