Maternity unit: from my recent experience, I would not recommend this hospital at all...
Although it's now common knowledge that the NHS is suffering an economic and a workforce crisis, it should not justify any lack of care and service receive in an health care environment.
I've been left frustrated and apprehensive from my experience in Newham Hospital; from my registration to my experience in the maternity assessment unit (twice), the majority of the midwives that I met, lack a basic sense of professionalism, some were abruptly rude, while others I met where downright patronising and careless.
This nasty attitude is not acceptable, I felt that they acted with a sense of impunity. I was surprised to find more professionalism and support from the student staff I came into contact with.
I can now compare the service received in Newham to another hospital (which is actually busier) that gave me back a bit of hope to humanity & the NHS service, that's really a shame not to be able to rely on a local hospital (have to travel 40 mins) when you are pregnant and should enjoy your pregnancy.
