"Unprofessional reception"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

I was in the day unit endoscopy unit at Crosshouse hospital day for a colonoscopy. I was shocked when I arrived at the reception desk to check in when I saw some of the staff were very obviously eating fish and chips behind the desk. The smell was so strong throughout the whole waiting area where it obviously stated that there was no food or drink permitted.

Everyone in the waiting room was waiting on a procedure and had therefore been fasted.

I couldn’t believe how thoughtless and unprofessional it was of them to smell out the whole waiting area to hungry patients.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Hungry man,

Oh dear, I am so sorry, that was a real test for you all. The smell of fish and chips is quite compulsive and it is bad enough when you aren't hungry. I will pass this on to the management for their action.

I hope the rest of your test went well,

best wishes,

Eunice
