What I liked

i originally thought my care was good for such horrid circumstances but then changed my mind!

What could be improved

i sadly found out my baby's heart had stopped beating at 18 weeks 2 days. we were sent to WRH for a scan to confirm my baby had died. after waiting for a couple of hours in a little room with only 2 romatntic books to read and no drinks etc we were seen, scanned and had a set of blood samples taken (from both arms as the nurse 'forgot' to do one of them needed).

after another hour or so we were taken to the faye turner suite (just off the delivery ward)

my partner and daughter left to go home, i was also left, after trying numerous amounts of times trying to call the midwifes, i used the emergency cord just so i could have a gown to wear to sleep.

after not sleeping much through the night due to being woken up by women on delivery giving birth and hearing new born cries, i waited to be seen.

it got to 10.30 and i had still not been seen by anyone or had any breakfast, i managed to call through and was told a doctor would be coming to take some more blood samples from me (which was another hour wait) i then went home for 1 day.

the next morning i came back in and was induced to deliver my sleeping baby. the room was nice, although the poems and letters left by other families were very hard to see.

my labour progressed very quickly and we walked onto the delivery ward to deliver him.

they place my baby (still in the sac) into a bowl lined with a bed pad.

after we had spent time and said goodbye to our baby we went back to the faye turner suite.

we were told his weight and told they were unable to get hand/foot prints due to his size.

we later i found out through my counseller that i should of got prints. she searched my records to find that they hadnt tried to take them, that the midwife had not felt comfortable taking him out from his sac.

i have since been left with no prints of my baby, and even the weight i was told wouldnt of been his actual weight!

Anything else?

I understand it must of been hard for her, but its harder for a bereaved family to leave with nothing from their baby and not be able to have the chance to get them after.
