(as a carer),

My daughter has been waiting almost 12 months for an appointment with the CAHMS team in Bucks and has a BMI of 14 which is "not critical" for treatment according to the admin department my GP is dealing with. I have been offered the oportunity to place my daughter in the care of Social Services which might speed up the provision of care services as Social Services have greater abilities to engage care.

What a terrible world we live in.

I paid almost £84k in personal income tax last year and have never taken a penny from the system not even for school services, perhaps my tax for this year could be used to fund my daughters care?

I’m sorry to hear your daughter still hasn’t received any treatment despite waiting for 12 months. Given that 18.5-25 is considered a healthy BMI range we understand your concern over your daughter’s weight and her emotional and mental health and we can hear your discontent regarding your local CAMHS team.

If your GP referred you for treatment it may be worth returning to them with a written list of recent behaviours and their impact, to enable the GP to understand the day to day situation and stress how long you have been waiting. You can ask the GP to continue to liaise with the CAMHS team on your behalf and stress the impact of what is happening to your daughter and each individual family member. You mentioned you have been waiting almost 12 months which is a long time for any parent to cope with these concerns. Has your GP or the local CAMHS team advised you on how much longer your daughter will need to wait for the initial assessment?
