"Children's A & E saved my babies life"

About: Milton Keynes Hospital / Accident and emergency

My son had a severe allergic reaction to a rusk. I rushed into A&E the receptionist was switched on and took 1 look at my son with his swollen face and immediately a triage nurse appeared and ushered us to Children's A&E. The Consultant and nurse were excellent. Within seconds my son was on a bed and had received emergency injections in his legs which made the swelling go down. Various other staff assisted. I expected to go home as he appeared to be recovered but the staff were very thorough and insisted on an overnight stay in Ward 5. Although obviously very busy the nurses on the ward were pleasant and informative. We were referred to a dietitian and allergy tests were done the next day. After 24hrs monitoring we were discharged with dietary advice and epi pens. I cannot fault the treatment and subsequent care my son received and I'm very grateful to all the staff involved.
