"Amazing staff and care, pleasantly surprised"

About: St Thomas' Hospital (London)

I visited St Thomas Hospital Early pregnancy Assessment Unit as it was the closest one to my work that didn't require GP referral. I came with 6 weeks pregnancy and scared due to bleeding. I filled in the form, sat down, and within 10minutes I was seen for first assessment of what's happening. The nurse that took my details was very warm and understanding. It was a few minutes past the time for booking ultrasound scans but they said they'll see if they can still try to squeeze me in, so that I don't have to be coming back another time (and be uncertain of why I'm bleeding for that much longer). The other nurse conducting scans agreed to fit me in as their last patient, which was very kind of them. I was then given another form to fill, urine sample to fill, and after 10minutes I was seen by another nurse that took my pressure, temperature, weight and similar metrics. I then waited maybe another 30minutes before I was taken to the ultrasound scan. The scan was conducted without any issues and the midwife/nurse has explained to me what they're seeing and what will be the next steps.

I was given a follow up appointment in 2 weeks for another scan to ensure everything is developing ok.

Overall I was very pleased with how fast everything went considering I walked in without an appointment - well under 2 hours with other patients in and out is exceptional. The nurses were very well organised and worked like a well oiled machine! All of them were very polite and nice to deal with.

The hospital itself looks clean and I haven't noticed anything out of ordinary or what I'd expect from public space like this.

I'd definitely recommend early pregnancy assessment unit and its staff. I'd like to thank again all of the staff there who made me feel so welcome at a time of distress. Keep rocking, your kindness and support doesn't go unnoticed.
