My mum had copd for many years.
And coped reasonably well for a while with an inhaler.
As time went on she had chest infections more often.
She was never given any other support for her copd.i understand NICE is supposed to be followed.
This year my mum had been to her doctor numerous times as her cough was so bad she was losing sleep.yet another inhaler.no help at all.
My mother died in September.
She had spent a month in hospital after being admitted to hospital with pneumonia.
While there they discovered she also had lung cancer.
She was recovering from the pneumonia and the plan was to send her home to regain some strength before having radiotherapy.
Unfortunately her lung collapsed and then she had a chest infection.
She was too weak to carry on.
The hospital were amazing.
Her gp told her the few weeks before she ended up in hospital that her chest was clear.
Total lack of care from gp.
My mum had cancer and pneumonia and her doctor couldn't see she had anything wrong. They didn't even notice my mum's weight had changed drastically.
