About: University Hospital Monklands / General Surgery (Wards 4 & 7)

(as a relative),

My husband had 2 major operations within 6 days and we thought things were going well and he was discharged on the Friday. Unfortunately he too really not well on the Sunday and was admitted to Monklands in the early hours of Monday morning. He was very unwell but within a few days was feeling much better.....

They would not send him home until they were really happy with how he was and wanted to make sure everything was working in good order. So that meant nearly 2 weeks in Monklands. 

He was in Ward 4 and can say he only received the best of care in this ward. All the staff were friendly, efficient and knew exactly what they were doing.

Ward 4 showed the NHS working at its best....well done everyone and thank you very much for all your fabulous care giving.

Dear equuleuscj75,

Thank you so much for your post on patient opinion relating to your husband's two weeks in Monklands.

Must have been a very difficult time for you both as you were discharged and then re-admitted.

I will be delighted to pass on your comments to the Staff in Ward 4, that you had a very positive experience. The staff in Ward 4 strive to give patients a good experience whilst in their care. Hope your husband are recovering well now.

I noticed you mentioned some improvement relating to the food and varying temperatures, I am the food fluid and nutrition lead for the site and work very closely with catering to ensure the food is of a good standard, I will certainly look at this, the bedding we are supplied with called sleep knit and it sounds like you were hot and cold and couldn't get a balance I will certainly explore this.
