"My daughter has been waiting for 23 weeks!"

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary / Ear, Nose and Throat

My daughter Ellie was referred for an urgent tonsillectomy on 8th June 2017. We were initially told it was a 13 week waiting time, this then changed to 20 weeks and now 26 weeks. How long does a 6 year old have to wait for an urgent operation. She was referred due to having persistent low lymphocyte count and enlarged lymph nodes in her neck. The consultant at AGH is hopeful that once her tonsils have been removed her blood will return to normal and her lymph nodes will go down. As a result of having a low white cell count, she is persistently weak, poorly and it is affecting her both physically and emotionally.

Hello, thank you for letting us know about this, and I am sorry for the delay and worry and distress it is causing you and Ellie. So we can investigate this please can you contact me directly on patient.experience@bthft.nhs.uk or call me on 01274 383863. If I am not in the office when you call please leave me your name and number to call you back on. It would also be useful if you could let me have your daughter's name, date of birth, address and if you know it, her hospital number or NHS number.

Can you also please tell me the name of her consultant. I look forward to hearing from you.
