"A+E and then admission for short op"

About: Royal Berkshire Hospital / Accident and emergency

I visited accident and emergency on Sunday 12th with a badly gashed knee. All the staff were excellent and communicative. I was seen by a jr doc well beyond the time they should have gone home and at no point was I rushed. I was then admitted to Dorrell Ward which was quiet and where I received excellent care. All the staff were kind and considerate and were able to find me some food late at night. I had to wait a little longer than expected for my orthopedic operation but it was explained to me that there might need to be people seen ahead of me if a more urgent case presented. The anesthetic team understood my concerns and requirements because I was keen not to be intubated as I use my voice for my career. My stay was excellent in every way even though it was clear many of the staff were extremely stretched and under pressure much of the time. Discharge was prompt and efficient and I was sent home with everything I needed for my recovery. Thank you!
