"Opthalmologyy Day Unit: Removal of cataract"

About: Cumberland Infirmary / Ophthalmology

Although routine to the unit the treatment that I received from all the staff was excellent and clearly focussed on the patient. The preparation for the operation was thorough and well explained. What was most reassuring was the quiet but confident communication between the staff particularly in the theatre. The post operation brief was straightforward and left me with the view that life would be back to normal, even at the age of 78, very quickly. So sitting here at the PC on day 2 there is no discomfort, the script is clear and there is no pain. My deepest thanks to you all. Bryan Betterton

Dear Bryan,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of your visit to the Ophthalmology Day Unit for cataract removal.

I am very pleased that the team looked after you so well and provided you with clear information.

The staff fully understand how nervous and anxious patients can be when coming in for surgery and how things will be for them after the surgery.

I shall ensure your comments are passed to Matron so that she can share them with the teams who looked after you.

Your comments demonstrate this is a whole team approach to care and shows that everyone has a part to play in the patient experience

Best regards

Alison S-D
