"Planned hernia repair"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

I would like to say thank you to the same day admissions, theatre, recovery and day surgery unit for looking after me before, during and after my op. I was nervous and everyone made me feel at ease. Nothing was too much trouble for the nursing staff when I asked for anything. My only slight comment would be in the day surgery unit there are notices everywhere stating that mobile phones must not be used. I fully agree that people shouldn’t be making calls whilst others are recovering from their op but I would like to have been able to send a text to my relatives to let them know that I was ok. Thanks again to everyone!

Dear Mrs M59

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience in the hospital for your hernia repair. I am glad that the staff within Same Day Admissions, Theatres/Recovery and Day Surgery were able to make the experience less stressful for you. Staff are aware that it can be an anxious time for patients and try to put them at ease.

I will make sure that your feedback is passed on to the staff within these areas including your feedback about being unable to send a text whilst in the day surgery unit.

I hope that you are continuing to recover well.

Kind Regards

Lynn McTavish

Dear MrsM59

Thank you for taking time to post on care opinion.

I am delighted that you have had a positive experience during your recent visit to University Hospital Monklands.

The signage pertaining to mobile phone use relates to patient confidentiality as there is a possibility that other patients may be included if for example photographs are being taken. To negate this risk we ask that mobile phones are not used.

We try where possible to give patients departmental phones to call loved ones if appropriate,
I will feedback to the team your thanks and discuss further with them the option to offer patients the use of the mobile land line phones.

I trust that you are recovering well

Best wishes

Fiona
