"A&E and HASU ward"

About: Princess Royal University Hospital (Orpington)

Our mum/nan was rushed in to A&E and was immediately assessed by the team, the doctor and the nurse were coordinated and so well organised. All questions s answered without hesitation, with respect and integrity. Nan was scanned and diagnosed within a couple of hours, she was too unstable to move at one point and staff tenderly advised us. Nan was on the HASU ward and settled comfortably, staff attended her around the clock and telephoned me as soon as her conditions became worse. Later that morning I made way to HASU and found staff well informed and easy to find!!

Nan had indeed deteriorated and phone calls to the family were made, staff ensured we could all visit her, regardless of visit hours and numbers by the bed. My family were included in all care decisions, including final end of life care. A beautifully arranged care package, delivered with love and received with many thanks and great admiration to each and every member on those teams. My nan did not get to die at home as she wished, but she died with home around her. Thank you to the doctor and the nurse and all for making it possible to restore faith in an institution so wrongly vilified of late. Each and every dedicated person deserves an Outstanding rating, so you have it from me!

Firstly, please accept our condolences for your Mum / Nan.

How immensly kind of you to take the time to share your comments on the care that your Mum received at the PRUH - both in the A&E and on the HASU - particularly at such a difficult time for your family.

It is extremely thoughtful of you and I will pass on your comments to staff in both departments.

Although your nan didn't die at home where she would have liked, it is really heart warming to read your words that 'she died with home around her'.

It means a great deal to staff to hear about when we deliver the care that we always strive to do and thank you so much for taking time out to post your comments.

With very best wishes to you and your family at this time.
