"Two day stay in medical assessment ward"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus

Well what a contrast.

My 93 year old father was in the unit for 2 days.

His treatment was first class, the Doctors, ward staff, reception and catering staff were kind and courteous dispite communication difficulties with is deafness and visual impairment.

The doctor came to see me to discuss his care on my first visit to the hospital and I did not have to chase to find out what was happening. They catered for his needs and made sure he was not left feeling isolated.

He was changed into pyjamas and washed.

I can't speak highly enough of their care.

This is a very stark contrast to his stay in the sister hospital at the City Nottingham.

Perhaps the City should learn some lessons from this.

If he needs to go into hospital again I will certainly push for him to be in QMC.

During his stay they had a very difficult wife of a patient to deal with, she obviously had mental issues, but again they dealt with her is a very caring way without her disrupting the rest of the patients and visitors.

Very well done to all.

I marked the level of cleanness down as a 4 star, but that is because I honestly didn't notice and didn't see anyone cleaning, but there was certainly not problem with it.

I am grateful that you have taken the time to get in touch. I’m pleased to read that your father’s experience and care was as it should have been at QMC. I’ve shared your feedback with the ward manager, who has shared with the rest of the ward team.

On the contrary, I am sorry your father’s care at City Hospital was inadequate. If you could contact me on 0115 924 9924 ext. 66623 or QMCPET@nuh.nhs.uk, I will look into further.

Best wishes,

Sarah Kennedy.

Patient Experience Officer.
