"Great Care in Chilworth Suite Car Parking is..."

About: Royal Surrey County Hospital

First may I say I cannot fault the staff in the Chilworth Ward always Friendly, Happy, making sure you're comfortable I spend eight to nine hours there would be good if there was a TV on the ward of a TV lounge you use

I have been having Palliative Chemotherapy for the last 6 months

My only Issue with RSCH (St Lukes) is the car park, There are firstly not another car places in the Oncology Car park other patients or staff must use them ??

I've either waited til someone comes out , or left my Partner / Daughter to wait and find one

I've been issued a Hospital

Parking Permit which does not pay for your parking , its to be used in conjunction with the one you have purchased now £4 if you have to pay for parking is not to bad for twenty four hours , choice to pay less for les time and if like on a few occasions I've paid my dues and been in and out in half and hour , agree or not I have made a contract with the Hospital or parking contractor to use that space for twenty four hours , so if some other poor patient comes in looking for a space

I surrender my space which i have paid for for twenty four hours no problem the space has been paid for

Now you have to enter your car registration .stopping the action of giving your ticket to another patient

It still costs £4 and there is no min charge if your just in and out a lot of money

I had to pick up some medication from the pharmacy took 15 minuets

In theory now my space I have paid for twenty four hours can be re sold a possible

twenty three times making another £92 unlikely I know but possible

Royal Surrey Hospital / St Lukes you really need to look into your parking policy asap

This system is used at

The Aldershot Centre for Health

I went over my hour I paid by 15 minutes because my cannula site after wouldnt stop bleeding after a CT Scan

a larger dressing seemed to work when I got back to my car it had bled through the larger dressing and my shirt and jacket

About 10 days later I received a parking notice for £60 raising to £100 if not paid in ten days

I appealed and the charge was stopped

This will occur at your site if not checked and this will only add more stress to your patients at a time in their they need the least amount of stress

Thank you for taking the time to share feedback on your recent experiences at Royal Surrey County Hospital.

I am pleased to read that you have felt well looked after on Chilworth Ward and I will pass on your feedback with regards to a TV on the ward.

Our priority remains to deliver the best patient care and outcomes. As such, we work to ensure that all NHS funding and income we receive is invested solely towards this purpose and is not diverted to other areas, such as car parking.

We also know that we need to develop, improve and increase our car parking facilities and the money we raise from car parking charges is used to fund this.

We strongly encourage patients and visitors, where possible, to use public transport to get to the hospital, as the Trust is well served by both buses and trains.

We advise those travelling by car that parking at Royal Surrey is limited and that they should allow plenty of time to find a parking space.

At busy times we are also aware that people have to queue to find a space.

We appreciate that the current situation is not ideal and as such we are working closely with a number of local and national agencies and organisations to improve the car parking provision on the site.
