I was extremely anxious about my TURP because of previous childhood abuse. The staff could not have been more understanding. My poem says it all.
Sister
I was helpless, a child again, unmanned,
Afraid of shadows from the past,
That long forgotten nightmare
Now relived in a vibrant present.
I tried to be brave,
To tell myself the past didn’t matter,
I could face this test alone,
Then fear took me, destroyed my courage.
I sought you, knowing you were kind,
Told you my history, my fears,
Went to pieces in front of you.
And you understood immediately,
No more words were needed.
The weight of years lifted from my shoulders.
"Wonderful service"
