About: Royal Manchester Children's Hospital

(as the patient),

I'm 9 years old. I'm here for blood tests. When I'm waiting I have to stay in clinic 3's waiting area. All the toys are babyish, I'd like it if Mario Kart was in this waiting area.

I think the doctor is nice, I am included in it all. He asks me questions and tells me everything. I'm happy with him.

The GP said my problems were down to growing so I didn't get seen at hospital for 6 years.

Mum:

I feel that the booking system is ridiculous. It took 3 months from the referral to the appointment which I think is horrendous. They gave me the number for the hospital in the end because the booking system had no appointments but when I called the hospital said I couldn't book direct with them anyway. How frustrating.

We are sorry to hear that you had difficulty booking your appointment with us. We do try to prioritise appointments to make sure those who need to get seen urgently do so. Now that you are in the system then future appointments should be without difficulty but please post back if you have any further issues.

It's great that you are happy with your doctor and that he's nice.

We are aware that we than do better with providing entertainment for older children. I am meeting with the play worker for Outpatients next week and I will take your comments to him. I will post back on here once I have more information.
