"Dreadful Experience"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Accident and emergency

Dreadful place.

Last two times my mother has been taken into AE at aged 87, we have not been involved at all and we are both Power of Attorney for her welfare and financial needs. DRI are breaking the law of the land by not involving us.

As such, as we live 85 miles away and today for example, I am stricken by Meniere's Disease, so am unable to get to Doncaster so I ring up and get a switchboard who cannot be bothered to connect me to AE where someone can tell me what is happening with my mother, who may be dying for all I know.

This has happened on the last two occasions and is unforgivable as far as I am concerned. As usual [I am on hold as I type this] and when the same voice asks me for the third time "hello this is DRI, how can I help". They finally give me the direct line to AE which is 01302 642335 and guess what [and I know they are busy], they do not pick up for 5 minutes and then immediately put the phone down on me before I can say hello.

I should not have expected anything more from anything in Doncaster. This is why we left in 2005 and have never been back since but now, with Mum, this is what we receive.

Not good enough at all, DRI. How can you help? You can get people answering phones for relatives for one, especially rellies that are poorly themselves!

Useless place, as usual.
