"Accident and Emergency"

About: Torbay Hospital / Accident and emergency

The time it took to report the accident was swift. The time to be seen by a triage nurse was also excellent. A very short time. I was warned that there would be a long wait. I didn't wait any longer than I had expected although I couldn't see a clock.

The A and E waiting room was chilly however it was no trouble to provide me with a blanket.

The only source of irritation was heart Radio which seemed quite loud. The adminstration staff turned it lower on request. The radio is lovely to cook to or drive with but it didn't help my head after having a fall.

When it came to my turn to see the Doctor they were very thorough and all the staff very professional.

In sum the only point I would make is the loud radio. In comparison to my experiences at other A and E departments

I noticed pain relief was not offered at the triage stage. I suspect this is policy rather than a reflection of the triage nurse. The Doctor was surprised bloods had not been taken already whilst I was waiting. However once with the Doctor everything progressed very speedily with empathy and professionalism.

Thank you for looking after me so well.

Dear Patient

Thank you for taking the time to comment.

It is always good to receive feedback; we try to ensure we share examples of good practice and also that we learn from any negative experiences.

Kind regards
