"Porters' staff badges"

About: Crosshouse Hospital

(as the patient),

I recently had tests in Crosshouse hospital. I noticed that NONE of the porters who "wheeled" me around for my tests (ECG, X-ray etc) had name badges. They didn't introduce themselves.

I noted the nurses, X-ray, ECG staff had hello my name is... badges or similar, Are the porters exempt from this great initiative?

The food was very good I have to add, everyone at X-ray, ECG polite and explained who they were and what was happening to me (except the porters).

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear sigmaqg99,

I am glad you found your experience to be good on the whole. Your suggestion about name badges for the porters makes sense to me. I never find it easy to read the identification badges I must admit.

I have passed this to the managers responsible for their consideration. Should there be any changes on this front, I will post an update on this forum.

Thank you for your post and excellent suggestion.

I hope you are well now,

Eunice

Dear sigmaqg99,

The Assistant Director for this area will cascade the message to all porters that they should be wearing their ID badges in a way that is clearly visible and the wider issue around patient experience will be discussed at the next Heads of Service meeting.

I hope this is helpful,

Eunice
