"my elderly mother, depressed, and getting more so"

My mother has recently been attending an EMI Unit to enable diagnosis and treatment of her deoression and anxiety. Following a few visits the staff altered my mothers medication, in particular antidepresants. Following this change my mothers state of mind plummeted, often crying for hours, asking for help, and, unfortunatly, she started self harming as a plea for help. I very unhappy with the cocktail of drugs she is currently on. She is so extreamly low and unhappy, I cannot imagine her being any worse, and this begs the question, why still make her take all these antidepressants and sedatives if she is as low as she could ever be?
