"A fabulous lady fighting cancer "

About: North Middlesex Hospital

(as a friend),

My beautiful friend was told she had breast cancer about 18months ago, she underwent a mastectomy and took the whole ordeal in her stride, with her only thought to be remove the breast, beat the cancer, she then went through the cheamo which showed her all its horrible side affects, but she got through it and stopped the chemo xmas time 2009.

She then had some scans which showed no cancer in the bones and went on the road to getting herself back to being healthy and wanted after several months to get back to work. When she eventually did some months later she forced herself back to her job but was struggling to walk as she had severe pain in her hip and back. She had more scans which then showed she had secondary bone cancer, her doctor told her this was just a blip, I hardly think so.

A few months past and a scan showed it had spread to the liver. She tried so hard to do the day to day stuff; she is 48 with a 13 year old daughter. But the pain was getting unbearable, she then had another scan which showed up liver cancer and it’s all gone downhill since. My lovely bubbly brave friend was told it’s not curable. It’s treatable and not terminal. That was 2 weeks ago now she has days to live.

I think the North Middlesex have let her down. Now she’s in what I feel is a cold looking depressive side ward. She was supposed to go to a hospice but is now to weak to be moved, at the hospice she would have had around the clock care, been treated with the utmost respect and dignity. Now she has bone, liver, lung and brain cancer. So no, I wouldn’t like to thank the North Middlesex hospital; as I think they let my friend down through the whole horrible process.
