About: East Surrey Hospital

What I liked

They were running on time which is very rare. The nurses were kind and caring.

Anything else?

My usual surgeon was busy with some other patients so I automatically was allocated a different one who was extremely rude to me. They went out of their way to humiliate me and were extremely patronising. Did not tell me what they were doing and had no consideration for the pain they were causing me. By the end I felt violated and emotionally distressed by the whole situation. I would never go back to this hospital if given the choice!

Thank you for taking the time to comment about your experience. We strive to deliver excellent, accessible healthcare and we’re sorry that on this occasion it didn’t meet the high standards we require. The attitude of the surgeons is clearly unacceptable and not what we expect. We would appreciate it if you would contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Department so we could investigate. You can contact PALS by telephone on 01737 231958, email: pals@sash.nhs.uk, or by writing to: PALS, East Surrey Hospital, Canada Avenue, Redhill, Surrey RH1 5RH.

Thankfully, your experience is not one that is shared by the majority of our patients with 91% of inpatients stating they received good to excellent healthcare in our last survey.
