"Cardiology tests, but but my GP and I still..."

About: Lister Hospital / Cardiology

I attended the new Cardiology department at the Lister Hospital, Stevenage, as follows:-

My first appointment, on the 28th September 2017, was for an ECG Monitor to be fitted.

The second appointment was on the 30th September 2017 for an Echocardiogram procedure. Both appointments were requested by my GP in Hitchin to help ascertain my medical problems. Both appointment went smoothly, and performed at the booked times.

Since then, unfortunately, things have not been acceptable. My GP and myself are still awaiting the results from these procedures, some 6 weeks later!

Attempts to contact the Cardiac department on 01438 284765 result at all times in a recorded message, stating that the line is only open between 0900 and 1500, Monday to Friday. Unfortunately this message is received at any time of the day. Today, the 8th November, it was at13:50hrs. A recording invitation is then implemented and I was asked to leave my details etc.. Several minutes in to my message, I was interrupted, by a recorded voice and informed that my message was rather long and I only had 20 seconds to conclude it. This was the final straw. I am aware that robots are "taking over" but I felt this was totally uncivilised. It is not my fault that my results are still outstanding 6 weeks after their completion; it is yours!

I have given up on the telephone, as has my GP. If you cannot run the service then shut it down and hand over to someone who can.

An earlier response to a similar situation gave this e-mail address and stated it was unusual. Obviously it is not.

Yours in desperation.
