"Support following our loss"

About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary

(as a relative),

We as a family would like to express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the care and support we have all received from the ICU in Newcastle for their compassion and support following my nephews recent death.

We held a memorial football match, held recently at our local football ground which my nephew supported.  He was an avid footballer and played through so many clubs in Fife, it was the most fitting tribute his friends and family could pay to honour him and make him proud.  Over 1000 attended the match, and the folks from Newcastle, came up specially to pay tribute. We are entirely grateful to all the staff in Newcastle ICU and we hope to raise more monies to give to them for the Family bereavement room in ICU. The ICU unit in Newcastle have been overwhelmingly kind and supportive. Thank you so much.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your complimentary feedback regarding your nephews care on Ward 38 Critical Care at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and for the generous donation that has been made in his memory. Our thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.

We are pleased to note that you have said the team were overwhelmingly kind and supportive, your positive feedback will be passed onto the staff involved who will appreciate the recognition of their efforts from you.

No we thank you enormously as it is the simple things in life that bring the greatest joy and happiness.

After losing Aidan our family have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love for Aidan but also for our entire family. The recognition, thoughtfulness, caring and compassion of so many people has been humbling and restores faith in humanity, when it is needed most. Compassion, respect and love cost nothing, but are priceless to receive.

As our gentle giant Aidan had so much love for everyone and genuinely treated everyone equally with love and respect, instilled by the natural love of his parents and extended family, we honour and pay tribute by trying to follow in his kindness. Every member of staff at Royal Victoria treated Aidan with care, dignity and respect.

These acts of caring, kindness shown are of true professionals with hearts, sadly we know that is not the case of all the caring profession. So Royal Victoria, we cannot thank you enough for taking care of Aidan and our family. You will always have a special place in all our hearts and the bridge between Newcastle and Kirkcaldy is welded with love, united by Aidan.

Thank you all each and everyone of you. Please pass on all our warmest wishes and love to all at Royal Victoria and again thank you.
