"Arrogance and no care for making patients well"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

Everything in this hospital is geared towards treating paperwork. It is hanging on by a thread and has clearly no care for it's patients. There is only one good Doc I am aware of who works there.

Experience-

Admission for GI complaints of mother, clearly very ill, pain on stomach region and liver region, inability to swallow, with a history of cancer. Weight loss and vomiting. Rare cancer syndrome. What is the next best step in the management of this patient? Do you give her scans by students and expose a cowden syndrome patient who is at higher risk from developing cancer to unnecessary radiation, or do you try and figure out why she cant eat and swallow after finding out she is has never been scoped! Scoping is gold standard as you can treat and DDX at the same time. But no, lets Xray first, then CT, and find nothing diagnostic from this, and still administer broad spectrum antibiotics.

Lets not bother doing a scope and discharge the patient still not being able to eat, still feeling sick all the time, lets just write more scripts for more drugs, on her already massive drug list. Lets waste more NHS money on inefficient treatments of disorders that have not been diagnosed via evidence, lets just guess, and let us of course ignore the patient is still ill!!

Lets pat ourselves on the back because we've wasted more NHS funds doing nothing effective, and lets cause more disability and time off work for people that have to care for the patients you can't cure or treat effectively.

The worst egocentric doctors seemed to be pooled here, refusing to listen to my mother, and refusing to help. I am worried sick now, and am gutted she has spent all this time in hospital, and I have had to take so much time off I will lose my job.

Do not go here for GI problems.
