"Discharge oversight"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Acute Medical Unit

(as a service user),

My dad was admitted to A&E as a precautionary measure with a possible stroke. His bloods were taken on first admission and passed on down the queue to wait to see a doctor.

He was discharged from hospital with the tube still in his arm- not noticed by a family member until 3 days later. We are shocked this wasn't removed prior to him being discharged.

Dear Deennee,

Thank you very much for getting touch to share your feedback. I am so sorry to hear about your dad's experience. I imagine it must have been quite worrying for you all when you discovered this, after your dad being home from hospital for 3 days.

Kind Regards

Gareth
