"I am currently 5weeks into the programme and I am doing very well"

About: Ashley House / Substance Misuse Service

(as a service user),

I re-engaged in treatment after a 3year period of abstinence. I had a GP referral to the community alcohol team, which I was told I would have to wait 16weeks for.

I had a friend who has undergone a 12 week programme through TTP,and gave me the contact number, I called up and spoke to the service manager at TTP the same day and began the program the very next day.

I am currently 5weeks into the programme and I am doing very well. The programme has helped me toward changing myself and my outlook and I truly believe the treatment I am receiving has changed my life and aided my recovery.

The only issue I have regarding Ashley house is the Peer to Peer group meetings. I would like to get involved with the group for my benefit and other service users benefit but its on Tuesday 11-2pm.

I can't attend as I am at TTP everyday until 1pm so if the group meetings were at a different time, then I would definitely get involved and encourage others to get involved. Or perhaps there could be a repeated sessions of the Peer to peer group meetings

Thanks for your posting and it's good to know you are progressing really well on the programme you are on.

You are correct in highlighting that the Community Alcohol Team has a waiting list for assessing people and that it was at 4 months. We have always accepted that such a long wait caused problems .Through looking at systems and with an increased resource we continue to try to reduce the waiting time to be seen. The present wait is 8 weeks. All the agencies within Ashley House continue to try to work as a single service provider and as such if TTP feel you would still benefit from any interventions from the Community Alcohol Team they will speak to us accordingly.

Regarding your comments about the TTP and the Peer to peer group times clashing I will discuss this with those who organise both to see if its possible to make it that both can be attended.
