"Treatment"

11 months ago my father was referred to mental health for suspected dementia over 6 months later memory tests was done he has failed those We was told will take 1-2 weeks for a diagnosis and he was told not to drive for 2 weeks until results was back nobody has since been in contact constant messages left calls never returned gp hasn’t even had a reply. Absolutely appalled we have no help at all luckily my dad has his wife and me to support him it’s hard on us but there’s people out there that don’t have that support

My father now believes he has no dementia and can drive we have to hide the keys so he can’t but imagine how much pressure this puts on us as a family this is one thing he’s totally focused on as the 2 weeks have long passed he has no time concept normally but he knows it’s well passed that

Thank you for your feedback and I am so sorry to hear about your experience. It is a concern that the messages are not being returned. We are aware that there was an issue with one of our offices and an answerphone malfunction resulting in messages not being recorded. As soon as the service was alerted to this issue LPFT’s IT services became involved and the fault has been rectified. IT also carried out another check this week to ensure the problem was fixed.

The service pride ourselves on providing high quality care to all our patients so it is of concern to hear about your father’s experience. We are sorry that considerable stress has been experienced by yourself and your family.

If you could contact the Patient Experience Team on 01529 222265 with further details I would like to look into this further so we can ensure that your father receives the care that he needs. I would be more than happy to discuss this with you on the phone or in person. Once again, we would like to apologise for the poor experience you have had and the distress this has caused.

Ewa Michocka-Lowthian, Team Coordinator, Stamford and Spalding Older Adult Community Mental Health Team
