"I had symptoms I needed attended to"

About: The Ulster Hospital / Cardiology Hub

(as the patient),

I recently had symptoms which l had also had prior to a confirmed Heart Attack a couple of months ago.

I arrived at the hospital near 2pm. I registered my symptoms at the desk. After a short time, l was taken into the nurse's room and gave the nurse my details and symptoms.  They took my blood pressure, temp. I was told to sit outside in the waiting room.

After approximately 20mins, a nurse called me to a room. They proceeded to take a blood sample. Again l was instructed to sit in the waiting area. I sat here for approximately 25mins. l was then brought into a room and offered a hard chair in front of the nursing bays. I was informed a Cardiologist would see myself. This was around 3 30 pm.

The nurse offered myself two paracetamol for the pain l was encountering. Periodically, l got my blood pressure, temp taken. I sat quietly.  Suffering uncomfortable symptoms.  Other than getting my blood pressure taken no one asked me anything else.

At 7pm. I was getting uneasy, l asked a nurse what the hold up was with the Cardiologists  attending. They replied that they had contacted the cardiologist and they would be 10 to 15 mins.

At around 8pm, as l was getting more anxious,  I just wanted to go home. A doctor and nurse tried to get me to stay. I told the nurse I wanted to go home and said my telephone number was on my file. I went home. Needless to say the doctor who did not see me did not ring.

I find it hard to believe that only one Cardiologist l needed was on duty. I think myself I had symptoms I needed attended to. If it persists I will go elsewhere.
