After a GP referral which took 5 weeks, had an initial assessment but the woman was putting words in my mouth in a "would you say you feel like..." and when I said no she almost argued it to make her version right and wrote that down. There was no time for me to explain what was going on and she had zero desire to try and understand what was going on. She was after a very tick-box set of symptoms that she could put something to, I was often cut off mid sentence and overall her approach was very rude and mocking at times with slight laughs when I explained some of my anxieties. I felt very uncomfortable.
The strongest thing noticeable is the lack of understanding about how much other people can struggle with things; just because you don't doesn't mean it's a not a bigger issue to someone else. I was patronised and laughed at and told my problems were silly and minor, then that I wasn't severe enough to warrant psychotherapy (referred because of an attempted suicide) and also that CBT therapists don't deal with suicidal patients (!) so it seems those genuinely desperate to help themselves have no options, you're either too sick or not sick enough.
Astounded by the lack of people skills and compassion and what an atrocious place.
