My learning disabled 13 year old son was referred to the orthodontic team by community dentistry. As they take many disabled people I hoped they would be able to accommodate to his limited understanding and be clear, kind and encouraging
.We were shown into an examination room with a side door. A nervous person examined my son and made some tentative suggestions. The side door flew open and in came the consultant. The consultant didn't speak to my son, and behaved like a vet. Barely said a word to me. Ticked off the trainee for their suggestions in front of us-so ,my son ,already terrified was picking up on the Consultants views that the treatment is rubbish. My son became distressed and the consulate said to the trainee that in that case no treatment . Then the consultant swanned out without a goodbye!
This treatment is needed.
Terrible old school treatment and a rude consultant. No modifications for disability made at all.
"Orthodontics team is terrible, arrogant consultant"
