"Discharge process"

About: The Tunbridge Wells Hospital / A&E and trauma unit

I have had the misfortune to stay in pembury hospital for one week. Not all bad but it is the first time I've been at the hands of the NHS and I can give so much feedback as to how to make it better and more efficient. My negative review at this stage is in relation to the discharge process. I am currently sitting in the discharge lounge and have been here for 3 hours but was discharged from my ward 6 hours ago. I have had cancer three times and nothing throughout all of my treatment has been as painful as this. Pembury you need to get your together.

We're really sorry that you've found the discharge process to be so frustrating.

Once the decision has been made to discharge a patient, a number of actions need to be completed (discharge documentation, dispensing take home medications, booking transport) which can take some time to complete.

If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail or share some of your suggestions for how you feel we could improve our services, please don't hesitate to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01892 632953 or email mtw-tr.palsoffice@nhs.net.

With kind regards, The PALS Team.
