Having been told I was to have a colonoscopy, due to traces of blood detected from the Bowel Screening Programme test, I was petrified. Mainly because I had never had one done before. I attended a pre-assessment appointment, at which I was put totally at ease as every detail was explained to me, and all my personal questions were answered to my satisfaction.
On the day I was made at ease and once again my questions were answered by caring and knowledgable nurses and staff. Although you can never be worry free, everyone involved did their upmost to make the experience as worry free as possible. Even though appointments were running late, I had regular updates explaining why, which helped to keep me at ease. The actual colonoscopy went much more smoothly than I could have imagined as the staff carrying out the colonoscopy put me at total ease. I was very anxious about having a colonoscopy, but let me tell everyone it is totally painless and if I ever had to go through it again, I would have no hesitation or fears.
