"Very poor practice"

About: Montague Medical Practice

Having been with this surgery for 25+ years it with sadness that we move to another surgery after the service and treatment here has gone down so badly. Our main complaints are-

1 Taking a biased view of our grown up children, an example would be my daughter who attended with acute gynaecological pain to be told "At your age its Clymedia".It wasn't and after begging in tears to be tested she required surgery for cancerous cells! My son was suffering acute back pain and took a day sick from work to attend only to be told "He could not have any pain killers as he might get addicted take this prescription for Paracetamol".

2. The rudeness of a senior Partner knows no bounds, on consultations we have found them rude without manners and unable or unwilling to understand health problems that we all face. I have no need to name them here and frequently when waiting to see a doctor I have observed other patients asking for an appointment but not with this partner as they are so rude.

3. The appointment system is so poor, we were told to ring at 8am in the morning for an appointment, my wife and I try on two phones to get through but on several occasions we have got through at 8.15 have tried hundreds of times, only to be told there are no appointments left. If the appointment system has changed it might have been an idea to tell us before this happened. Agin the rudeness of the reception staff is high with them offering no alternatives when this happens.

4. I would not have used this NHS choices page but Montague Medical Practice offers no email address.

5. I am Diabetic and the medical centre offers no specialist diabetic nurse, reviews with the practice nurse have offered little or no specialist information or treatment.

We are sorry you are not happy with the services provided by Montague Medical Practice. We would like the opportunity to respond to your individual concerns raised and we would ask you to contact the Practice Manager about this. We do have information available on our website about how to complain to the practice, and reception have complaints leaflets available. We have changed the appointment system recently and this has been advertised within the surgery and also in the local newspaper before the changes were made. We also discussed the changes to the appointment system with our Patient Participation Group. I would like to reassure you that we do offer regular diabetic reviews with our Practice Nurses. Again, if for some reason you have not been recalled, please contact the Practice Manager to discuss this.
