What I liked
I returned to Andover Birth Centre after a delivery in Winchester. It was strongly recommended that I attend Winchester due to my age and the fact that I was overweight and could have complications. My delivery was text book with little pain relieft required and no problems which Andover would not have been able to deal with. I was however delighted that I could transfer back as my time with the unit was so valuable. Your emotions are all over the place and such a friendly family environment was perfect. I received help and advice on breast feeding and was able to feed my baby for 5 months. I was shown how to bath her and it was a very personal experience but at no point was I ever intimidated or felt any pressure. They dont expect you to be super mum but are there with every piece of advice available and nothing is too much trouble. A cup of tea and a chat are always available even after you have left the unit. Andover should remain open with the guidlines of patient admission for births less restrictive. This is a supurb unit and I can not praise all of the staff who provided care for my baby and I enough.
